BASSOON REED-MAKING EASEL - Majestic Maple, Cheery Cherry, Black is Beautiful Walnut
The world's best easel for freehand profiling and all regular preparatory work for making bassoon blanks. The cane bed has a diameter of 1-1/16" (27mm) and a length of 6-3/4" (171mm) and the grooved end shanks have a diameter of 1-1/4" (31mm). Total length is 9-3/4" (236 mm) which allows for easy and safe grip for all knife operations. The surface is polished and unfinished, allowing for the greatest safety in handling. Milled by Greg James of Precision Music Products, these easels are made with top grade Canadian hardwoods and based on the design that I developed with B. Allan Mackie. The easels work for both modern and historical bassoon and will last a lifetime with normal use. I've made 1000 freehand bassoon reeds with this type of easel, and prior to that, used the same easels for machine profiled reeds. They are a joy to use.
